The 2025-2026 Maryville High School yearbook staff would like to give you and members of your family the opportunity to congratulate your graduating senior with Senior Congratulatory Ads. This is an advertisement purchased by you which will appear in the 2026 Appalachian. Please see enclosed pages for examples of these options.

AUG

TN Promise application window is open – apply for TN Promise through the TSAC portal (https://www.tn.gov/collegepays/tsac-student-portal.html)
8/15: Senior Class Picture (7:45am @ MHS Stadium)
8/21: Herff Jones Senior Meeting (jackets, rings, cap, gowns) Location: Main Gym Time: 9.40-10.20AM

Begin working on ALL college applications. Pay attention to details and deadlines. Save a copy of all your completed applications.
Register to take/retake ACT & SAT. Include your social security number on your registration!
9/4: TSAC College Financial Aid Presentation at MHS (Senior Transition classes)
9/4: TSAC College Financial Aid Presentation for families (MHS Auditorium @ 6:00pm)
9/6: ACT National Test Date (register at my.ACT.org)

10/1: RECOMMENDED DEADLINE to complete college applications; your highest ACT composite score will appear on your MHS transcript.
Complete and submit your FAFSA.
Consult college financial aid offices to check scholarships, aid information, etc.
10/6-10/10: FALL BREAK - Visit colleges!
10/18: ACT National Test Date (register at my.ACT.org)
10/21: Senior ACT retake at MHS
10/24: Senior Sunrise on the Football Field (MHS Homecoming Week)

11/1: Last chance to complete a UT Promise and TN Promise Application!
11/1: Cap & Gown measurements due! Contact Herff Jones for details.
11/17: TSAC FAFSA Workshop 4:00pm-6:30pm in the Ed Harmon Lecture Hall (appointment required)
11/18: TSAC FAFSA Workshop 9:00am-1:00pm in the Ed Harmon Lecture Hall (appointment required)
Continue focusing on grades & turn in all your assignments to your teachers!
Be diligent about checking for scholarships on Canvas + SchooLinks.
Finish strong. Do well on your semester exams!
Check your Student Aid Report (SAR) that you should have received after you completed the FAFSA.

Begin spring term with purpose. Final grades DO matter to colleges, and acceptance to college is contingent on final (end of year) transcript.

5/12: Senior Assembly (AM Activity period); cap and gown distribution post-assembly
5/12: Senior Banquet 6:00-8:00pm
5/13: Fire & Ice Celebration on the practice field 7:30-10:00pm
5/14: Graduation practice (8:30am)
5/14: First Baptist hosts Baccalaureate for our students/families (7:00pm)
5/15: Graduation practice (8:30am)

Graduating With Distinction

Maryville High School recognizes seniors who demonstrate academic excellence and notable achievement through the Graduating with Distinction honor. Students who earn this recognition will be acknowledged at commencement and will have an asterisk symbol next to their names in the printed program.

What It Is

Graduating with Distinction is an academic recognition for seniors who maintain a strong GPA and complete at least one qualifying achievement listed below.

How to Qualify

Students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and complete at least one of the following. Submit the indicated verification with your form.

Earn a nationally recognized industry certification (submit a copy of the certification)
Participate in a Governor’s School (submit an official Governor’s School transcript)
Participate in a state All-State musical organization (verification by the school’s music teacher)
Be selected as a National Merit Finalist or Semi-Finalist (verification by a school counselor)
Achieve a composite score of 31 or higher on the ACT (scores verified through the counseling office)
Earn a score of 3 or higher on at least two Advanced Placement exams (scores verified through the counseling office)
Complete 12 or more semester hours of postsecondary credit (submit an official college transcript or obtain counselor verification)

What You Receive

Qualifying students will be honored at commencement and will have an asterisk next to their names in the official graduation program.

How to Apply

Complete the Graduating with Distinction form and submit it, along with the required verification documents, to the school counseling office by the posted deadline.
