Partner Information

We are always looking for ways to bring Industry Partners and students together. Here are some ways to get involved with the MHS future workforce!

  • GUEST SPEAKERS (45-60 minute time commitment): Professional speaks to aligned class at school site. Pre-arranged based on current term instructional needs & pacing.

  • JOB & OPPORTUNITY BOARD (15 minute time commitment): Post your job opening, volunteer opportunity, job shadow experience, or career exploration camp/seminar on our free-of-charge Opportunity Board that is accessible to our student body, parents, and alumni.   • EMPLOYER MEET & GREETS (2 hour time commitment): Business partner professional hosts an informal, drop by meet & greet at MHS usually during the lunch hour. These are pre-arranged with MCS WBL coordinator.
  • ON-SITE VISITS TO WORKSITES (1-3 hour time commitment): Aligned MHS class visits industry partner’s work site for tour/discussion, providing a visually enriching opportunity for the student and increased efficiency for the business professional. Class visits to worksites are pre-arranged with content area teacher and based on current term instructional needs and pacing. Class sizes vary.
  • JOB SHADOWS (3-6 hour time commitment): Individual students spend a half or full day one-on-one with a business partner professional in a job shadow experience. Students are not to touch equipment and PPE requirements must be adhered to.

  • CAREER EXPLORATION CAMP, SEMINAR, or WORKSHOP (varied time commitment): Industry partner hosts a program to help students learn about careers & gain skills often through hands-on activities by working with industry professionals. Please post on Opportunity Board.

  • WBL CREDIT BEARING COURSE (12-15 week time commitment): Students spend a term (and possibly beyond) working for an employer while they earn high school credit. Employers develop a local talent pipeline while building relationships with talent. Experiences may be paid or unpaid but must follow all federal and state labor laws.
  • CAREER FAIRS (2 hour time commitment): Hosted event where multiple employers meet potential future employees and students.

  • Worried about liability?  Please reach out to one of our WBL coordinators to discuss!
  • Worried about pay?  While it is helpful to our students to get paid through their internships, it is not required. It does make your company’s internship more attractive to students, as many students do have expenses they need to work for.
  • Worried about paperwork? Our work-based learning coordinators have simple templates that make the process very easy.
  • Worried that you won’t have a position to hire the student for at the end of the experience? That’s OK! The experience you give the student will be a resume builder for them to get hired by another employer.

  • Post job opportunities to source student and graduate candidates as well as job shadow opportunities, volunteer opportunities, and/or career camps
  • Record short mentor videos to raise visibility of your organization among students
