For students expecting to attend a four-year college or university after graduation from Maryville High School, it is strongly recommended that a minimum of four science courses be taken. To achieve this, at least one science course must be taken every year. Data have shown that students who take high school biology, chemistry, and physics score higher on the ACT test than students who do not complete these courses. In addition, many colleges and universities require incoming freshmen to complete a laboratory science in biology, chemistry, or physics regardless of their major. For these reasons, taking biology, chemistry and physics prior to graduation from Maryville High School is highly recommended.
