ACT
The ACT is a college entrance exam and consists of three to four multiple-choice sections in English, math, reading, and science. In 2025-26, ACT revised the standards to include the science portion as an optional component of the assessment. Sub scores combined to create an overall composite score. Tennessee high school students who earn a 21 or higher ACT composite score are eligible for the TN Hope Lottery Scholarship TN Hope Lottery Scholarship. Colleges also used ACT subscores for class placement and collegiate readiness standards
